Immersive & Interactive Trail designs

Tales from Wales

Housed in the multi million pound Serendome, filled with sensory delight. Sheltered from the wind and rain but still in the great outdoors, I designed a Winter Lights Trail based on Tales From Wales. 9 Tales I created based on legends that are depicted through the installations. Lots to interact with and many ways to immerse yourself in the tales. Children (and adults!) always discover best through play, so being able to create these platforms of adventure for families to let their imaginations loose will always be my favourite thing! Inspired memories and magical moments where they get to be the heroes of their own family adventure.

WonderWood Lake Illumination

The light trail was designed around the character of Mr Wonder, who wasn’t very good at magic. Here at the lake, at the edge of wonderwood, was where Mr Wonder practised his spells (with comical resuits!) broken into sections of silliness filled with playful interaction and sensory stimulation. The focus was on letting the children control the magic, giving them the power over the lights but to listen out for Mr Wonder trying out his latest spell as it has a chaotic impact on the lake itself!

WonderWood Forest Illumination

The light trail was designed around Natures playground & a story that as the night draws in the forest comes to life, with magical elements of nature brought to light. A journey of discovery with open interpretation for what you see. Lots of interaction with natural elements in order to activate light and trigger the story.

Tinkers ToyTrail

The origin story of Claus, taking the guest on an exclusive walk through the woodland workshop. Guests get to see where it all started with wood carvings, willow weaved sculptures and lantern illuminations of presents and toys. Very wholesome, sensory and interactive.

Fairy Forest Illumination

The light trail of the Fairy Forest. Deep within the wood there is a magical fairy village, with homes nestled in rock, trees and along the babbling brook. At night the Fairies come to light and the trail gets a mysterious glow. What will you discover?

Scarecrow Trail

The idea was to utilise up cycled elements in comical fashion to create a trail that not only encouraged families to get out and enjoy some fresh air, but inspire creativity and fun! In discovering the scarecrows they had their own top trump style ratings and at the end you could play a game based on the stats. The up cycled elements provided real comedy effects and increased social media sharability!

Legends Trail (Heritage Walk)

Embark on a magical family quest taking you through the ancient woodland trail discovering the lost legends of Wales to find the secret location of a magic well. A family walk like no other encouraging exploration of the great outdoors with learning objectives, quality family time, forest bathing and fresh air. Families don't only learn about the legends but become the legends themselves through the interactive installations. Doubling up as incredible social media photo points and sharing opportunities for marketing. Keep watch for lots of hidden gems too that enhance the sensory delights of the wood such as listening to the poe-Trees reciting old welsh verse!

Sketches / Plans

It all starts with a sketch!

Creating maps/ blueprints and plans help keep the projects on track and enable contributors to see the bigger picture.
